medicine wheel workshop (july 8-10 in 3 parts)

The Medicine Wheel is a millennia-old First Nations tool for self awareness and development. Based on the importance of storytelling in Native oral cultures, the Medicine Wheel challenges us to seek out and tell our life stories as a way to deepen our own self-understanding.

zen meditation retreat (friday july 30 to sunday august 1)

Meditate silently, cultivating stillness and balance, cessation and harmlessness. This is a great opportunity to let go of some stress and reconfigure.  While the main emphasis of this retreat is placed on the both seated and walking silent meditation, there will also be:

• background methodology
• Instruction
• dialogue

story-keeping: write your autobiography (aug. 9-12, 2010)

Gain self-knowledge as you write your life story during this special retreat experience.  Writing your story is a creative way to explore how you've invested yourself in the activities of life. 

This exploration leads to greater clarity about your own values and goals, and a future plan that reflects your true self.

renew your creative process (friday july 23 to sunday july 25)

In the busyness of life, often the first thing we neglect is our relationship with self, where the physical, mental and spiritual energies circulate. Such an imbalance hampers our creativity – without fuel the creative spark diminishes, leaving us in thirsty for something more.

floral essence workshop (sun. july 4)

This workshop is a relaxing way to spend some time on the grounds at Queenswood. Starting with a meditation, we'll pick a flower from the garden. Then you'll make the flower essence and be given the recipe to take home so you can make another flower essence of your own.

learning to meditate (wednesday july 7, 2010)

Meditation connects us with our lives. Through settling our minds and opening our bodies, the practice helps us engage ourselves in a deeper, more authentic way.  Grounded in our beings, we become better able to meet the challenges of contemporary life. Starting us on the path of meditation, this workshop alternates guided practice with participant-driven discussion while:
    •  leading participants through a basic meditation practice,
    •  deepening this practice with body-based relaxation exercises,
